Assistant Treasurer

OverviewResponsible for partnering with and supporting a financial planning and analytical approach to business functions of C&F Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries.
ResponsibilitiesManagement & Leadership (60%) Fosters and enables personal and professional development for direct reports and others in the organization.
Delegates and trains Finance and Accounting personnel on key policies, processes and procedures, including but not limited to the Corporation's allowance for loan and lease losses, collateral reporting, repurchase agreement reporting, and branch profitability.
Supervises and reviews the work of Finance and Accounting personnel prior to external or internal presentation.
Inspires and facilitates financial discipline amongst all levels of the organization.
Spearheads the annual budget planning and preparation through interaction with department heads/cost center owners to include:
defines deliverables (scope and timing), serves as lead point of contact for questions and support, reviews assumptions and measures for reasonableness, ensures assumptions and inputs are properly documented.
Leads the development and distribution of monthly branch profitability reporting, which includes:
determining new and/or updating cost allocation methodologies, determining new and/or updating funds transfer pricing methodology, developing data acquisition and aggregation processes, including determination and integration with source of record, calculating monthly and ad-hoc profitability reports.
Facilitates interest rate risk management and balance sheet strategies discussions amongst senior leaders through the design, development, and presentation of discussion materials in the Corporation's quarterly Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) meeting.
Oversee investment and cash management, including make recommendations for investment purchases, execution and settlement of purchases; manage liquidity by providing cash and liquidity forecasts; manage borrowings including execution, debt service and maturities; and manage collateral positions.
Facilitate working group on deposits which determines deposit product interest rates and strategies.
Financial Planning & Analysis (30%) Supports business strategy and decision-making processes by defining the process for analyzing business results and reviewing data from various sources.
Provides vision for monthly results, forecasts, annual operating plan, and strategic outlook.
Assists senior leaders with any updates to the Board on progress made and/or key learnings and status updates in their respective business areas.
Designs deliverables and facilitates conversations with leaders in the organization on key trends and insights.
Conducts stress tests for various balance sheet and income statement components to understand the impact on capital and liquidity:
documents assumptions and inputs, maintains and updates supporting financial models, interprets results and makes recommendations based on the results.
Develops, updates, and maintains the corporation's merger model documentation.
Maintains and updates asset liability management model, required supporting processes, and reports for data acquisition/integration.
Monitors all policy limitations and reports compliance or violations to the ALCO.
Other Duties and Responsibilities (10%) Leads various special projects as well as development and resource planning.
Performs scheduled and ad-hoc financial analysis to support Finance, Accounting, and other internal departments and subsidiaries as needed.
Develops relationships and consults with department managers and other members of the organization.
QualificationsKnowledge:

years of experience in a financial analysis role or financial analysis experience in a related field, preferably in financial services industry.
Demonstrated understanding of GAAP and financial statements.
Working knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles; demonstrated understanding of the principles of corporate budgeting and financial modeling; familiarity with SEC reports of financial institutions; basic understanding of interest rate risk management.
Skills:
Advanced computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and budgeting and/or interest rate risk management software; proven analytical skills to include financial statement analysis with ability to communicate complex concepts to varying audiences; strong communication skills to include effective presentation skills; strong relationship-building skills to engage a wide audience in the budgeting process.
Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data; ability to effectively work under pressure and tight deadlines at times; organization and detail orientation.
Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and in various settings and effectively communicate information clearly through all media channels.
Education:
A four-year degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance is required.
A master's degree is desired.
Professional designation in Finance-related discipline is preferred.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Physical demands:
Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:
viewing computer monitors, typing on a computer keyboard, sitting, motion of fingers/hands/wrists, and standing/walking.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
